November 19, 2013 Community Housing Forum
You are invited to a Community Forum on the state of Affordable Housing in the municipality of Selkirk.  The forum will evaluate critical questions about how Selkirk can effectively provide housing for all of it’s citizens.

Guest speaker Jino Distasio will discuss the importance of housing and touch on the largest housing research initiative in Canadian history.

Offering insight into the current state of affordable housing in Selkirk, with virtually no new affordable housing starts since 2007, the forum will evaluate the need for housing across the spectrum.
Our intention is develop a plan which, moving forward, will ensure all of Selkirk’s citizens are adequately housed and explore how this can actually save governments and taxpayers money in the long run.

Movember Canada announces today that it will be addressing mental health, in addition to prostate cancer, as part of its Movember 2012 campaign.

April 4, 2012 Selkirk Transit officially begins May 30th, 2011

The city of Selkirk now offers a transit system to the residents of the community. Free rides are being offered from May 30 to July 1, 2011. The bus service runs Monday to Saturday 6 am to 6 pm.

March 19, 2012 CMHA Interlake Receives Generous Van Donation

Over the past three years CMHA Interlake has been looking to purchase a new van to replace the aging van that has been used by the organization the last decade. Finally, with a generous grant from the Auto Workers of Canada, this new van could be afforded. Heading into the Fall of 2010, a new Dodge Caravan was purchased from Selkirk Chrysler which met the requirements for service needs of clients in the Interlake.
